Natural killer cell chimeric antigen receptor therapy
Research Grant Recipient: Mark Osborn, PhD
Grant Period: 2017-2019

Summary: Using the body’s own immune system to combat cancer is a highly promising field, but there have been some serious side effects reported with early methods. Dr. Osborn is working to deliver the powerful cancer-fighting CAR proteins via natural killer cells, cells that normally recognize and destroy tumors without targeting healthy tissue.
Mark Osborn, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation at the University of Minnesota. He is also a member of the Stem Cell Institute, Center for Genome Engineering, and the Masonic Cancer Center.
